Virginia Olivas, MSW, has worked with Latino Family Institute since 2000. She served as LFI’s Program Manager for ten years. Virginia continues to contribute to Latino Family Institute, particularly with supervision in the Kinship Program as well as professional staff development.
Virginia works at Azusa Pacific University MSW program as the coordinator of the University Consortium for Children and Families DCFS Title IV-E MSW stipend program, teaching seminar classes for Title IV-E students. Virginia has 20 years of experience in public child welfare, with a specialization in adoptions. For 12 years, she supervised MSW students from various local universities. Virginia is also a permanency-planning mediator and mediates post-adoption contact agreements, which serve to honor connections for adoptees with their birth families after an adoption finalizes. Virginia is passionate about child welfare both as a professional and an adoptive parent.
